Accessibility of the venue
Lettrétage is a venue for events. We use the STUDIO at the ACUD cultural center at Veteranenstraße 21 in 10119 Berlin-Mitte.
This is ho you get to the STUDIO
Up the stairs:
You can reach the STUDIO via an inner courtyard. On the left, a staircase leads directly to the first floor. The event room is to the right of the staircase.
By elevator:
The elevator is located directly behind the courtyard entrance on the left-hand side. The elevator door is 90 cm wide. Take the elevator to the 1st floor. There, a covered balcony corridor leads straight to the STUDIO. The balcony is 145 cm wide. The balcony door to the STUDIO does not have a push-button opener, but is usually open during events. If not, wheelchair users are asked to knock. The staff can hear and see people in this area.
In the STUDIO
There are two areas in the STUDIO:
• Stage (the stage is 24 cm high; there is no ramp)
• Visitors' area (the tables and chairs are movable)
We can flexibly arrange seating for wheelchair users.
At the entrance, there is a bar counter (127 cm high) with bar stools (78 cm high) on the left, and an area with upholstered benches (70 cm high) across from it. Next to the STUDIO is a covered balcony walkway (97 cm wide) that can be used during breaks. There are no steps, and the balcony door is 103 cm wide.
Accessible restroom
The restroom is wheelchair accessible. It is located on the same floor as the STUDIO, on the other side of the stairs. It can be reached from the STUDIO without steps.

Accessibility during events
Lettrétage offers rooms for events. We do not organize the program ourselves. We are visited by people from the literary world who plan events and hold them at our venue. Some events charge admission, others do not. This means that accessibility also depends on the organizers' plans. Specific information on accessibility for individual events can be found in the program. It also states whether the event charges admission.

Since 2018, Lettrétage has been collaborating regularly with literary creators from the Deaf community. We carry out literary projects in German Sign Language and spoken language. In 2023, a workshop conference was held for Deaf and hearing literary creators, which resulted in the creation of an anti-discriminatory guide. Questions for collaboration between Deaf and hearing people include: What do organizers need to consider when inviting Deaf authors? What helps and what doesn't? How can you attract a Deaf audience and make Deaf people feel welcome at your event? How does Deaf advertising work? Who can translate spoken language literature into German Sign Language and vice versa?
You will soon be able to download the guidelines here
Completed projects with Deaf artists in DGS (selection):
• Fluide Glossare
• TextKörper – KörperText
• Sprachkunst in der Tauben Gemeinschaft
We are also interested in collaborating with other communities. Please send an email to Katharina Deloglu if you are interested: kd@lettretage.de
