Weltmeister from Klingenthal

A small town on the German-Czech border — and an instrument that conquered the world: Klingenthal was a center of accordion making for generations. From here, the name Weltmeister sounded across all continents. Today, the place stands for change, loss — and new stories.
With his text „Klingenthal und die Welt“ the author Florian Werner embarks on a literary search for clues. He carefully, precisely and vividly paints a panorama of a largely forgotten small town and its people — those who live, work and play music there.
Together with Goran Stevanovich, the “magician” of the accordion, he opens the concert series „Global Sound Stories – Akkordeon trifft Literatur“. Word and sound merge into a multi-layered evening about the origin, identity and power of an instrument that connects worlds. Based on the portrait of Klingenthal, Stevanovich also talks about the story of his own instrument — personally, virtuously and with passion.
An event by the Landesmusikrat Berlin e.V. as part of the concert series „Global Sound Stories – Akkordeon trifft Literatur“ on the instrument of the year 2026.
