What happens when we take away the visual side of a performance and leave only the sound?

Visuals can create a strong sense of place, but without them, our attention may move somewhere else. We become more aware of small changes in texture, frequency, movement, distance and resonance.

Everyone listens differently. The sounds we hear are shaped by our bodies, our memories and our own sense of space. The same sound can create completely different images or sensations in each listener.

For Quiet Anomalies, we want to share this experience with the audience: a space where we simply listen together, without projection or visual distraction.

There is no fixed image to follow. What you hear, and what you imagine from it, is yours.

mii89

Growing up together in rural Ishikawa, Japan, Shinichiro Ikeda and Yuki Asamura spent much of their childhood exploring the natural world with curiosity.

That curiosity continues to shape their practice. Through field recordings, spatial composition, analog and digital synthesis, and improvisation, they explore the relationships between sound, environment, technology, and human perception.

For mii89, sounds carry traces of the places, moments, and presences from which they emerge. Rather than simply reproducing these sounds, they transform and recompose them, allowing their character and meaning to shift within different spatial environments.

Their work is driven by a simple curiosity: how can a sound that already exists in the world become something else? Through listening, transformation, and spatial composition, mii89 creates new sonic presences from the world around them.

VELLVM

Vellvm is an experimental duo composed of Fathom (synths, drones, samples) and Noctilith (guitar, bass, cello). Rejecting traditional structures, the project operates as an ongoing sonic ceremony. Their entirely improvised compositions exist as fluid movements through specific moments.

Vellvm collapses the boundaries between dark ambient, drone, industrial, and atmospheric metal. Their vast, cinematic soundscapes balance fragile, weightless suspension with brittle, suffocating density. Across their extensive discography, field recordings and musique concrète dissolve into distant, mechanical rites. Moments of traditional instrumentation occasionally surface as tenuous lifelines, only to decay back into an eerie acoustic vacuum.
