Set in a London call center, the book explores identity, work culture, and the unexpected human connections forged in the most unlikely places.

Katharina Volckmer was born in Germany in 1987. She holds a Phd from the University of Oxford and her journalism and short stories have among others appeared in Lithub, FAS, Astra Magazine, London Magazine, HEAT literary journal. She now lives in London where she works for a literary agency. Her first novel "The Appointment" has been translated into over 15 languages and has been adapted for the stage and radio in several countries.

Susie Nicklin began her career at The Bodley Head publishers and co-founded foreign rights specialist The Marsh Agency in 1993. She was Director of English PEN from 2002 – 2005, and inaugurated its translation programme (now PEN Translates). She was Director of Literature at the British Council from 2005 – 2013, creating international literary partnerships and events. From 2015 – 2019 she was the owner of award-winning independent bookshop Dulwich Books, and she produced and directed ten literary festivals in that time. She founded The Indigo Press in 2018.

Richard Stoiber completed an apprenticeship in publishing at Suhrkamp Verlag, after which he worked in the editorial and the foreign rights department. He then studied German literature and Scandinavian studies in Berlin. From 2012, he worked as an editor at Matthes & Seitz Berlin. In 2021, he relaunched März Verlag, whose first new program appeared in spring 2022. He has translated Andrew McMillan's poetry into German.
