Seit 2006 finden in der Lettrétage ca. 120 öffentliche Literaturveranstaltungen jährlich statt – Lesungen, Workshops, Diskussionsrunden, literarische Performances und Formate dazwischen. Bekannte und unbekannte Autor*innen und Künstler*innen verschiedener Sprachen und Nationalitäten sind hier schon aufgetreten.
Seit 2013 liegt der Programmfokus u.a. auf neuen Wegen der literarischen Präsentation und Live-Produktion: Dazu zählen u.a. die internationalen bzw. transnationalen Literaturfestivals „Soundout!“, „¿Comment!“, „Berlinisi“ und „Syn_Energy“, aber auch das viel beachtete Netzwerkprojekt „CROWD“ und multimediale Projekte wie die Reihe „CON_TEXT“ oder das „Poetry Audio Lab“. Als Ankerinstitution für die freie Literaturszene Berlins stellt die Lettrétage außerdem ihre Räume für Literaturveranstaltungen aller Art zur Verfügung. Zahlreiche freie Veranstalter*innen nutzen unsere Infrastruktur regelmäßig – für Literatur-Workshops, Lesereihen in verschiedenen Sprachen und Buchpräsentationen. BERLIN BOOK LAUNCH: Freakslaw by Jane Flett

© penguin It’s the summer of ’97 and the Scottish town of Pitlaw is itching for change.
Enter the Freakslaw – a travelling funfair populated by deviant queers, a contortionist witch, the most powerful fortune teller, and other architects of mayhem. It doesn’t take long for the Freakslaw folk to infiltrate Pitlaw’s grey world, where the town’s teenagers – none more so than Ruth and Derek – are seduced by neon charms and the possibility of escape.
But beneath it all, these newcomers are harbouring a darker desire: revenge.
And as tensions reach fever pitch between the stoic locals and the dazzling intruders, a violence that’s been simmering for centuries is about to be unleashed.Described by Chelsea G. Summers as “the glittery punk offspring of Katherine Dunn’s Geek Love and Angela Carter’s Nights at the Circus, Freakslaw is a queer literary horror about chosen family and the risks it takes to become the person you want to be.
Jane Flett will be in conversation with Sarah Van Bonn about toxic masculinity, maximalist joy,and the importance of queer excess.
The night will feature an opening reading from Ambika Thompson, and end with an audience Q&A and book signing.

Her fiction has been commissioned for BBC Radio 4, featured in Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, Highly Commended in the Bridport Prize and performed at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. She’s a recipient of the Scottish Book Trust New Writer Award, the New Orleans Writing Residency and the Berlin Senate Stipend for non-German literature. Freakslaw is her first novel.

Der Selfpublisher Martin Krist führt durch eine Diskussionsrunde zum immer aktuellen Thema: Selfpublisher oder Verlagsautor - Was ist der bessere Weg?
Der Selfpublisher-Verband vertritt die Interessen deutschsprachiger Autorinnen und Autoren, die ihre Werke in eigener Regie herausgeben.
Martin Krist, geboren 1971, lebt in Berlin. Er arbeitete viele Jahre als leitender Redakteur bei verschiedenen Zeitschriften. Nach mehr als dreißig Sachbüchern, darunter die Biografie über die Hamburger Kiez-Ikone Tattoo-Theo, die Punk-Diva Nina Hagen (ausgezeichnet mit der Corine 2003), den Rap-Rüpel Sido, die Grunge-Ikone Kurt Cobain und den gewaltlosen Rebellen Mahatma Gandhi schreibt er seit 2005 Krimis und Thriller.
Nach zwanzig Jahren als überzeugter Verlagsautor arbeitet er seit 2017 vorwiegend als Selfpublisher.
