Seit 2006 finden in der Lettrétage ca. 120 öffentliche Literaturveranstaltungen jährlich statt – Lesungen, Workshops, Diskussionsrunden, literarische Performances und Formate dazwischen. Bekannte und unbekannte Autor*innen und Künstler*innen verschiedener Sprachen und Nationalitäten sind hier schon aufgetreten.
Seit 2013 liegt der Programmfokus u.a. auf neuen Wegen der literarischen Präsentation und Live-Produktion: Dazu zählen u.a. die internationalen bzw. transnationalen Literaturfestivals „Soundout!“, „¿Comment!“, „Berlinisi“ und „Syn_Energy“, aber auch das viel beachtete Netzwerkprojekt „CROWD“ und multimediale Projekte wie die Reihe „CON_TEXT“ oder das „Poetry Audio Lab“. Als Ankerinstitution für die freie Literaturszene Berlins stellt die Lettrétage außerdem ihre Räume für Literaturveranstaltungen aller Art zur Verfügung. Zahlreiche freie Veranstalter*innen nutzen unsere Infrastruktur regelmäßig – für Literatur-Workshops, Lesereihen in verschiedenen Sprachen und Buchpräsentationen. The Museum of the World
Christopher Kloeble in conversation with Liska Jacobs
(c) Unsplash Stock photo by JK Bartholomew is an orphan from Bombay. He’s twelve years old and speaks almost as many languages. That is why, in the year 1854, he is hired as a translator by the brothers Schlagintweit from Germany who, with the support of Alexander von Humboldt and the East India Company, embark upon the greatest expedition of their time, which takes them across India and the Himalayas. But Bartholomew is also pursuing his own agenda: he wants to establish the first museum of his remarkable, complex native land. And for this, he is willing to risk everything – even his life.
Based on the true story of a huge scientific undertaking by three Bavarian brothers, and brilliantly translated by Rekha Kamath Rajan, Christopher Kloeble’s THE MUSEUM OF THE WORLD is a fantastic adventure that will change the way we see the history of colonialism.
On May 18th The Reader Berlin is thrilled to invite you to the Book launch of THE MUSEUM OF THE WORLD at Lettrétage. Christopher Kloeble will be in conversation with author Liska Jacobs (CATALINA, THE PINK HOTEL) about history, colonialism, and the adventure that it was to write THE MUSEUM OF THE WORLD. The night will open with readings and conversation, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
Copies of the book will be available for sale, but they are limited so make sure you get there early to buy one.
(c) Christopher Kloeble Christopher Kloeble is a novelist and scriptwriter. His first novel, AMONGST LONERS, was the winner of the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung prize for best debut. His third book, ALMOST EVERYTHING VERY FAST, which he is currently adapting as a feature film, was published in English with Graywolf Press (USA) and was nominated for the Dublin Literary Award and the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis. He is also the author of THE IMMORTAL SALZ FAMILY and the memoir, HOME MADE IN INDIA.

(c) Soul and the City The project Soul and the City is thrilled to continue with their "Love, Sweat and Laughter" series of events, which allow an outlet for different types of arts to manifest, intertwine and grow together with the purpose of creating a culturally diverse tapestry of thought-provoking expressions, up-close emotions and in-depth gestures, leaving positive imprints of social engagement and political awareness.
Some of Berlin's coolest artists will gather together to present their witty performances in an enjoyable, friendly and slammin' atmosphere refilled with love, sweat and laughter, the right impetus for the entire night.
Performing artists from: France, USA, UK, The Netherlands, South Africa, Bulgaria, Germany, Romania, Italy, Brazil and more.
This is a multi-gender, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural event meant to bring joy and good times. No sexist, racist, bigoted, discriminatory, xenophobic or homophobic language will be tolerated.
