Seit 2006 finden in der Lettrétage ca. 120 öffentliche Literaturveranstaltungen jährlich statt – Lesungen, Workshops, Diskussionsrunden, literarische Performances und Formate dazwischen. Bekannte und unbekannte Autor*innen und Künstler*innen verschiedener Sprachen und Nationalitäten sind hier schon aufgetreten.

Seit 2013 liegt der Programmfokus u.a. auf neuen Wegen der literarischen Präsentation und Live-Produktion: Dazu zählen u.a. die internationalen bzw. transnationalen Literaturfestivals „Soundout!“, „¿Comment!“, „Berlinisi“ und „Syn_Energy“, aber auch das viel beachtete Netzwerkprojekt „CROWD“ und multimediale Projekte wie die Reihe „CON_TEXT“ oder das „Poetry Audio Lab“. Als Ankerinstitution für die freie Literaturszene Berlins stellt die Lettrétage außerdem ihre Räume für Literaturveranstaltungen aller Art zur Verfügung. Zahlreiche freie Veranstalter*innen nutzen unsere Infrastruktur regelmäßig – für Literatur-Workshops, Lesereihen in verschiedenen Sprachen und Buchpräsentationen.     The Erotic Album: Sound Poems from the Body

    Join us for a live performance of poetry, music, visual art and scent to launch The Erotic Album, published by FLORETS.

    This performance invites you to connect to the pleasure, tenderness, and creative power of the erotic through poems accompanied by live piano and electric guitar, a soundscape made from sounds of the body, visual art, and smell.

    Come, and be titillated, amused, surprised, and led on an erotic journey from the tips of your hairs to the soles of your feet.

    Berlin Nocturnes is an artist duo consisting of multidisciplinary writer Madhvi Ramani and sound artist, composer and musician Lutz Gallmeister. They have been performing their unique mix of sound art, text, and live music since 2022.

    Madhvi Ramani writes articles, essays, fiction, and uses storytelling to expand political, creative, and emotional awareness. Her latest children’s book “Whisper, Shout, Let it Out!” (Macmillan, 2023) encourages children to experiment with their voices. It was shortlisted for the BookTrust Storytime Prize 2025, and featured on the BBC. Her work explores the body, feminism, and new ways to tell stories.

    Lutz Gallmeister composes for dance performances, theatre, film and art installations. In 2021 he developed and produced “Project [a]”, a sound and video installation with a dance performance involving over 40 international artists, on the theme of human rights. It premiered at the Kronenboden project spaces in Berlin and the Memorial da Resistência (Resistance Museum) in São Paulo, Brazil. His work focuses on socially critical issues.

    Monika Kozub, also known as Berlin Boudoir, is a multidisciplinary artist and visual storyteller based in Berlin. She explores the diverse spectrum of beauty in the world, placing emphasis on themes of nature and sexuality as means of empowerment for women. Her work celebrates the raw, the bold, and the sensual, inviting us to spark deeper connections—with ourselves, our bodies, each other, and the natural world—and prompting us to rethink the norms that shape our perceptions.

    Klio Maniati is a fragrance scientist who uses scents to capture her inner emotions. Her work focuses on multi-sensory media in art and the importance of smell in a predominantly audiovisual world. In 2022, she took part in the collective exhibition “Ecotopia” in Berlin, where she highlighted ecocide by using collective smell samples from past and future historical periods. She works as a fragrance consultant and is about to launch her personal perfume brand “Klio Parfums.”

    AI Talks: Cybersetzen und Maschinenliteratur

    Bestseller-Analyse, automatisierte Logistik und maschinelles Übersetzen – in der Buchbranche soll es viele Optionen für KI geben. Mit dem KI-Hype des Jahres 2023 ist die Zeit endgültig reif für eine tiefgründige Auseinandersetzung mit dem Phänomen der Maschinenübersetzung.

    Im Projekt Kollektive Intelligenz – Übersetzungsmaschinen und Literatur haben 14 professionelle Literaturübersetzer*innen getestet, wie sie mit DeepL arbeiten könnten und zu welchem Ergebnis sie das führt.

    Eins ist klar: Es geht nicht ohne "machine translation literacy", also Kompetenz im Umgang mit maschineller Übersetzung. Dazu gehören nicht nur das Wissen um die technische Funktionsweise von neuronalen Übersetzungsmaschinen und die typischen Herausforderungen des sogenannten Post-Editing-Prozesses, sondern auch ein Überblick über die rechtliche Situation, die sich aus der Verwendung von generativen Sprach-KI ergibt.

    Im Gespräch mit Josefine Haubold (Literaturübersetzerin) stellen Andreas G. Förster und Heide Franck (Leitungsteam »Kollektive Intelligenz«) die Projektergebnisse vor. Martina Wildner (Kinder- und Jugendbuchautorin sowie Vorstandsmitglied des Verbands deutscher Schriftstellerinnen und Schriftsteller Berlin) gibt eine Einschätzung des aktuellen Buchmarkts in Hinblick auf generative KI aus Perspektive der Autor:innen.
