Programmarchiv

    Please see english version below.

    English:

The event will be in German and English. Rainer Zimmer-Winkel (AphorismA Verlag ) will speak with Dr. Hila Amit Abas and Abdulkadir Musa. Music from Gidi Farhi and Dury de Bagh.

About the booklet - Breaking the walls between “us” and “them”:

"In Israel it took me years to learn and understand how my family was deleted from the history books and part of it became underclass. Even though they immigrated as Jews into the Jewish state of Israel, coming from Arab countries, they experienced some kind of diaspora, coming from an inner Jewish wall, in their supposed home country. This experience made me sensitive towards other diaspora groups, such as Syrians or others in Berlin, but especially the Palestinians of 48 and 67 and now to those who are living with me in my second diaspora in Berlin. My lecture will be told from the perspective of an Israeli who lives outside of Israel; outside the camp, outside the walls of Jerusalem/Al-Quds."

    Free entrance.

    Here & Elsewhere: Place Writing

    10:30Registration Fee: 125€

Workshop with Paul Scraton and Marcel Krueger

    © Joseph Carr

Whether you are writing essays, blogs, a journal of your travels or the story that will become a novel, creating a strong sense of place is crucial. Suitable for anyone interested in turning the sights, sounds and soul of place into engaging prose, this workshop will explore place writing in all its facets and why through the wide world of literature, location matters.

Over two days, participants will discover key works of place writing and learn about the different techniques to be found within this broad genre, including journalism, memoir and creative non-fiction accounts. Through a series of readings and exercises (which will include a ramble through the neighbourhood), participants will try a variety of fresh and creative approaches to writing about place and will work on a draft of a short piece of place writing - fiction or non-fiction - to be considered for publication on the Elsewhere: A Journal of Place blog.
