BERGHAIN NIGHTS by Liam Cagney
Book launch sponsored by The Berliner Magazine

(c) Reaktion Books ‘A deeply exciting book’ – Wendy Erskine
This evening we gather to celebrate the launch of "Berghain Nights: A Journey Through Techno and Berlin Club Culture" by Liam Cagney.
In this literary debut, Cagney takes us on a tour, illuminating and delirious, of some of our city’s favourite club spaces, exploring what it means to take clubbing seriously as culture. Blending essay and memoir, "Berghain Nights" features interviews with major artists like Ellen Allien, Rrose, Luke Slater, Eris Drew and Function, alongside other figures from Berlin’s night-time economy and the history of techno.
From kinky parties at KitKat Club to the industrial gloom of Tresor, from the queer garden of Buttons to the gay psychedelia of Cocktail d’Amore, Berghain Nights not only captures the excitement of Berlin’s clubs, it explores how spaces like these can help one find a truer self.
The event will be hosted by the DJ and editor of The Berliner Magazine, Jonny Tiernan, and the book will be on sale courtesy of The Curious Fox.
