July at Lettrétage

Before we go on a little summer break for all of August, we are once again bringing a variety of artists to the stage at Veteranenstraße 21. Our July events are primarily focused on building networks and promoting literary newcomers. Over the coming weeks, you will have the opportunity to witness the creation of a multilingual poetry network, dream yourself into the Mediterranean and let yourself be carried away by feminist texts while discovering new literary talents.

On Tuesday, July 1 at 8 pm, we will once again welcome the poetry collective “das ad hoc” to the Lettrétage when the TextOUR reading series enters its next round. Three members of the ad hoc collective will come together with artists from three different poetry collectives and initiatives to share their texts with us. What the artists have in common is that they all practice in at least one language in addition to German. The audience can therefore look forward to a multilingual evening, mainly in English, but also (among others) in French, Spanish, Italian and Korean.

On Saturday, 12. Juli at 8:30 pm, we are delighted to welcome a much-loved Lettrétage classic. The Poetic Hafla Variety Show presents its summer edition. Since 2015, Poetic Hafla has been bringing Mediterranean energy and colors to Berlin, always with a different cast. An evening of live music, dance performances, visual storytelling, stand-up comedy and poetry – deeply rooted in the sounds, movements and moods of the Mediterranean. The perfect opportunity for anyone who can’t make it out of the city this summer to dream themselves into Mediterranean worlds for an evening.

On Sunday, July 13 at 7 pm, FLINTA* writers will present their poems, stories, songs and essays. They were created during a workshop led by Giuliana Kiersz – playwright, librettist, artist. During the workshop, the participants were inspired by feminist fiction and non-fiction and then reflected on language, love, politics, friendship and activism. We are looking forward to a varied evening: 13 performances, all of which will be in English.
